
Meet the Board
Jolene Roberts is the founder and president of Hillcrest Foundation. She had a lifetime goal of creating a nonprofit that could serve special needs of aging adults. In 1988, she founded Hillcrest Health Services (now Hillcrest Health & Living), which is an integrated housing and health system serving aging adults in Nebraska and Iowa. Jolene spent her entire career dedicated to the development and operations of care and housing businesses serving older adults. Her educational background includes master’s degrees in social work and gerontology. She currently serves as president of Hillcrest Real Estate Development, which holds and develops real estate assets in the senior housing sector.
Dr. Anna Fisher, DHA, QCP, CMDCP, CDP, is Hillcrest Foundation’s secretary. Dr. Fisher is an adjunct professor at Bellevue University, a board member of the Bellevue Public Schools Foundation and co-producer of the TV series, Now What?, about elder care and dementia. She continues to serve as a Clinical Practice Committee member, Emergency Preparedness Committee member and Quality Award Senior Examiner for AHCA/NCAL. Dr. Fisher is also Chair of the Omaha-Metropolitan Healthcare Coalition (OMHCC) Non-Hospital Healthcare Workgroup, a member of the Pioneer Network Artifacts 2.0 Advisory Group, the Nebraska Culture Change Coalition, and the Developmental Disabilities Aging Coalition.
Kevin Mulhearn is the treasurer of Hillcrest Foundation. He joined Hillcrest Health & Living as chief financial officer in late 2013 with 22 years of operational and financial experience in the senior living industry. He holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration and Finance from Lewis University and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from North Central College, both located in Illinois. Kevin has been a certified Resident Housing Professional and served as the chairperson of the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)/Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC) for six years.Â
Todd Aerni is the vice president of Hillcrest Real Estate Development, responsible for creating and maintaining Hillcrest commercial properties. He has 20+ years of experience in construction and renovation projects. Todd joined Hillcrest Health & Living in 2014 as the facilities management director. Prior to Hillcrest, Todd was the chief building official for the City of Papillion. Todd is a member of the Nebraska Energy Code Collaborative, American Planning Association, International Facilities Management Association, Colorado Chapter of the International Code Council and American Association of Code Enforcement. Todd has a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science from Bellevue University.
Jill Goldstein is a partner at Kutak Rock, where she represents investors and syndicators in the affordable housing industry, with a focus on equity and tax matters related to lower-tier investments. Her work includes advising on transaction structuring, drafting key agreements and addressing complex tax issues, as well as providing guidance on real estate and debt financing matters. Jill earned her J.D. from Washington University School of Law and holds a B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is an active leader in the ABA Forum for Affordable Housing and Community Development and serves as co-chair of the Omaha office Tax Credit Department.
Natalie Simmonds is a writer, nonprofit strategist, and community advocate with more than two decades of experience supporting mission-driven organizations through strategic storytelling, fundraising, and partnership development. She is the founder of dotted i writing services, LLC, established in 2014, a consulting practice through which she helped nonprofit and humanitarian organizations strengthen their fundraising, communications, and grant strategies, contributing to the successful raising of millions of dollars for small and mid-sized nonprofits.
Natalie’s professional work has focused on organizations serving people with disabilities, at-risk youth, low-income seniors, and survivors of trauma and exploitation, as well as arts and music education programs that strengthen community connection and quality of life. Her experience also includes collaboration with international humanitarian organizations providing health care and disaster relief.
She graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in 2000 with a double major in English and Communication, and later earned a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her background includes leadership roles in marketing, public relations, and community outreach, including serving as an account manager for a Boston-area public relations firm specializing in arts and nonprofit clients, and as Director of Marketing for Simmonds Restaurant Management, Inc. From 2001 to 2007, she developed and led numerous nonprofit partnership campaigns, including BK Beat Cancer For Kids, which raised more than $1 million for pediatric cancer research. She received the Nebraska Restaurant Association Neighbor Humanitarian Award in 2006.
Natalie is deeply engaged in civic and volunteer leadership. She currently serves as secretary of the Omaha Mayor’s Commission for Citizens with Disabilities, secretary of the board of directors of Kicks for a Cure, a member of the advisory committee for Heartland Hope Mission, and a member of the Marian High School Alumni Board. She was one of the first recipients of the Build Up Omaha Award from Nebraskans for Civic Reform (now Civic Nebraska) for her advocacy work. In 2025, she was recognized on the field at the Susan G. Komen Nebraska Race for the Cure® as a Pillar of Action in recognition of her advocacy and leadership. In January 2026, she was named Heartland Hope Mission’s Volunteer of the Month.
An avid tennis player, Natalie serves as president of the West Omaha Women’s Tennis League (WOWTL) and participates in and captains USTA league teams as well as other recreational leagues in the Omaha area. She was named the Omaha Tennis Association 4.0 Player of the Year in 2017 and has been a top fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Nebraska Walk for the past two years.
Meet the Team
Sandy Lemke is the executive director of Hillcrest Foundation for Enhancing Lives. She has a 30-year career in administration and fundraising, and older adults are her passion. Most recently executive director of Merrymakers Association, an established nonprofit providing monthly professional musical entertainment in senior communities, Sandy is a proven talent in organization, event planning and strategic planning. She is involved in the Omaha Downtown Rotary Club and the International Food and Wine Society. She and her husband Todd own a local publishing company, Omaha Publications, which produces about a dozen high-quality print and online magazines, including its flagship title Omaha Magazine.
