A Short History of Our Foundation

A resident at Hillcrest Mable Rose had a wish to see Mount Rushmore before she died.

“I made a promise to her, and a few years later, as she was nearing her 90th birthday, I realized I needed to make good on my promise,” Lisa Summers, Hillcrest Foundation Executive Director, said.

In July 2011, Lisa took a group of assisted living residents, including Hillcrest Founder Jolene Roberts’ mother, to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore.

Upon returning, Jolene and Lisa discussed future plans for what has now come to fruition as the Hillcrest Foundation. They knew they had to find a way to create more amazing life experiences for older adults and help provide things they may need.
